MINING AND TRADING

THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE COLLECTION OF
WHITE CLIFFS OPAL ON THE INTERNET.

White Cliffs is Australia’s oldest commercial opal field and is best known as the home of the very beautiful and extremely rare “Pineapple Opals”. But White Cliffs also produces other kinds of opal as well including the finest-quality seam opal, belemnites, pipe opal, opalised wood and various lesser-known varieties of fossil opal.

The opal specimens shown on the following pages were all mined at White Cliffs by members of the Dowton family, who have been digging at White Cliffs for the past thirty years.

Opals from the Dowton Family Collection have been purchased during the past few years by collectors and museums in Europe, the USA and Australia.

A number of the specimens shown on these pages are now available to private collectors and museums. The sale of these pieces provides the funds for the family to continue it’s mining operations.

You can request detailed information and prices for any of the specimens offered for sale
here. All we need is your name and a valid e-mail address. We can supply photos, a description of each opal plus current prices in both Australian and US dollars.

Use the drop down buttons at the top of each page to find your way around the web site. Clicking on most of the smaller images will load a larger version of the picture in a pop-up window.
